European Days of Tradition II in Wysokie

The Day of Museum took place on Sunday on May 8th 2011 for the 5th time at the Regional Remembrance Chamber in Wysokie. It was unique due to the opening of new building of the Chamber. The Day of Museum people and The Days of Tradition lasted from May 9th to 14th and were called “The Green Heart of Europe – European Days of Tradition II” and realized within the project called “The Green heart of Europe – the promotion of the cultural values and touristy sites of Zamość commune”, financially supported by European Regional Development Fund within the Lubelskie Regional Operational Programme 2007-2013. A concert given by a Family Trio called “WKR Badachowie”,entitled “The songs about Zamość and Zamojszczyzna” and the band called “Camerata Belfer” form Sitaniec opened the Day of Museum people. Subsequently, the opening of the meeting took place by the hosts: Wanda Szpuga – the chairwoman of the farmer’s wives’ association in Wysokie and Ryszard Gliwiński – the village mayor of Zamość Commune. The history of the Regional Remembrance Chamber was recounted by Henryka Sobczuk – the curator of the Regional Remembrance Chamber in Wysokie. Subsequently, a symbolic ribbon made from straw was cut with a sickle. Thus the building was opened to tourists and guests. A ribbon was cut by: Ryszard Gliwiński – the village mayor of Zamość Commune, Arkadiusz Bratkowski – the chairman of the Provincial Assembly of Lublin, a priest Bolesław Zwolan - a rector of the Bartholomew the Apostle Parish in Sitaniec, Jerzy Sobczuk – a vice-prefect of the Zamojski Discrict, Andrzej Urbański – a director of Zamojskie Musem, Wiesław Kwoka – a coucillor of the Village Council in Zamość and the village head of Wysokie, Marcin Sobczuk – the Fire Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department in Wysokie, Wanda Szpuga - the chairwoman of the farmer’s wives’ association in Wysokie, and Henryka Sobczuk - the curator of the Regional Remembrance Chamber in Wysokie. The musem was consecrated by a priest Bolesław Zwolan - a rector of the Bartholomew the Apostle Parish in Sitaniec. The projection of a movie “The green Heart of Europe – the Regional Remembrance Chamber in Wysokie” was presented in a conference hall within the project called “The Green Heart of Europe – the promotion of the cultural values and touristy sites of Zamość commune”. A choir called “Sitanianie” from Sitaniec sang for the members of the meeting. What is more, the young had a chance of taking part in a contest called “Zgaduj-zgadula”, in which they were asked to answer the questions concerning the exhibits in the Chamber and Zamość Commune. During the meeting a handicraft fair was arranged. The members of the farmer’s wives’ association who presented themselves came from: Białobrzegi, Bortatycze, Bor­ta­tycze-Kolo­nia, Chy­ża, Sitniec, and Sitaniec-Wolica and individual artists : Elż­bieta Lesz­czyń­ska from Pło­skie, Kry­styna Pęk from Żdanówek, Halina Sowa from Wycho­dy, Agata Piwko from Szo­pinek, Joanna Zięba-Suwała from Białopole (Chełmskie District) i Geno­wefa Orchow­ska from Bor­ta­tycze-Kolo­nia. The stalls included: ornaments from tissue paper, articles of wax, roosters made from crochet and many others "Small Art Works”. Craftsmen from Sanok commune presented their own exhibition in the Chamber. Among the embroidered napkins and flowers made from tissue paper, Bieszczady’s icons and national costume of Rzeszów, entirely made from tissue paper, were exhibited. ‘The days of Tradition’ in the Regional Remembrance Chamber lasted from 9th to 14th May. Thanks to that, people could visit the Chamber, watch the movie entitled “The Green Heart of Europe – the Regional Remembrance Chamber in Wysokie”, be on display of the use of an old piece of equipment, prepared by ladies from the farmer’s wives’ association, took part in the contest about the Chamber and the old rural way of life in the Zamość Village, they could also taste the traditional pastries. Everything was available at no extra cost. The Chamber was visited by private individuals and organized groups. The fact of the matter is that, from 8th to 14th May, there were over 800 guests. The members of the farmer’s wives association had a great influence on the creation of the Regional Rememberance Chamber on November 12th 2005. The initiator of it was Mrs Wanda Szpuga - chairwomen of the farmer’s wives’ association. At the beginning, a watchtower, which was previously the Cultural Center, served as the Chamber location. The idea was strongly supported by both the members of the farmer’s wives association and the residents. In 2005 first exhibits were available. The visitors from Wysokie, the villages of Zamość Commune, Zamojszczyzna region and Roztocze. Among the oldest exhibits were: handmills (used before World War I), the brake for linen production, wooden box with handles - used for carrying building materials, and other ancient equipment. Undoubtedly, their husbands and sons, as the members of the Voluntary Fire Department in Wysokie, as well as the village heads, had a great impact on the creation of ”the rural museum”. Due to their help, the renovation of damaged equipment could be perfectly possible. “The days of Musem people” is organized in the Chamber from 2006, and “The days of tradition” lasts from 2007, during which organized groups of tourists were guided along the Chamber, they were taught to use the old equipment, had a chance of tasting the pasteries and meat products. The Chamber was also opened during holidays for children and youth from Zamość Commne. From the very beginning, it was visited by several thousand people. When there were over 200 exhibits, Ladies started dreaming about the new place in which the constantly expanding collection would fit. Nowadays, they are fully aware that the dreams may come true. On May 5th 2008 Zamość Commune started working on the project called “The building and accomodation of the Regional Remembrance Chamber in Wysokie – the place of the rural tourism and tradition”. On March 25th 2009 she made an application for a grant within the development of the rural areas programme 2007-2013, “The renovation and development of the village”, and on August 18th 2009 Mr Ryszard Gliwiński – the village mayor signed an agreement with the Local Government of Lubelskie Province concerning the EU financial support of 500 000,00 zł. On November 17th 2010 the new location of the Regional Remembrance Chamber in Wysokie was completed at a cost of 960 000,00 zł. 51,7% was financed by the UE budget. The official opening of the Regional Remembrance Chamber took place on May 8th.
